Dixit 5: Dreams - this exceptional expansion contains 84 new, extraordinary cards illustrated by Franck Dion – a French illustrator and animated film director. Each card is a small work of art, full of symbolism and ambiguity, which stimulates the imagination of the players.

What is the game about?

Dixit is a narrative card game in which participants create and guess associations to richly illustrated cards. In each round, one person becomes the Storyteller – they choose one card from their hand and provide an association for it. It can be a word, a sentence, a quote, a snippet from a song or a movie – everything depends on the player's creativity.

The other participants choose from their cards the one they believe best matches the given clue. Subsequently, all the cards are shuffled and laid out on the table. Players vote for the card they believe belongs to the Narrator. The art is to choose an association that is neither too obvious nor too difficult – only then can points be earned.

Objective of the game:

The goal is to score as many points as possible by correctly balancing associations and guessing the storyteller's cards. A key strategy is also to deceive other players into voting for our card instead of the correct one.

Game Rules:

1. Preparation: each player receives a set of cards (the number depends on the number of participants). The First Narrator is designated.

2. Association submission: the storyteller selects one of their cards and provides an association for it.

3. Card selection: other players choose a card that they think matches the given clue.

4. Shuffling and Revealing: all cards are shuffled and laid out on the table.

5. Voting: players (except the Narrator) vote for the card they believe belongs to the Narrator.

6. Scoring:

   - If everyone or no one guesses the Storyteller's card – they get 0 points and the others get 2 points each.
   - If some, but not all, guess correctly – The Narrator and those who voted correctly receive 3 points each.
   - A player whose card was incorrectly chosen receives an additional point for each vote cast for their card.

7. New round: another person becomes the Narrator and the game continues until the set number of rounds is played or until the cards run out.

Other game variants

- Creating a narrative: instead of a single connection, the Narrator can tell a short story describing the circumstances of the image's creation.
- Misleading: players can actively persuade others why their card matches the given password.
- Multi-level passwords: it can be established that the narrative must contain at least two interconnected elements, which will make interpretation more difficult.
- Forbidden words: players can prohibit the use of certain expressions related to art, which forces more abstract thinking.
