What is the game about?

Dixit is a narrative card game where players create and guess associations to illustrated cards. Each card is full of symbolism and can be interpreted in many ways.

In each round, one person becomes the Narrator. Select one card from your hand and add an association to it – it can be a single word, a whole sentence, a quote, or even a snippet from a song or movie.

The other players select one of their cards that they believe best matches the given clue. Subsequently, all the cards are shuffled and laid out on the table. The players' task is to guess which card belonged to the Narrator.

Objective of the game:

The goal is to score as many points as possible through skillful balancing of associations – the association must not be too obvious or too difficult. An important skill is also the ability to deceive other players into voting for our card instead of the correct one.

Game Rules:

1. Preparation – Each player receives a set of cards. The first Bajarz is appointed.

2. Association Submission – The narrator selects one of their cards and provides an association for it.

3. Card Selection – Other players choose a card from their hand that they believe matches the association.

4. Shuffling and Revealing – All cards are shuffled and laid out on the table.

5. Voting – Players (except the Narrator) vote for the card they believe belongs to the Narrator.

6. Scoring:

   - If everyone or no one guesses the Storyteller's card – the Storyteller receives 0 points, and the other players receive 2 points.
   - If some, but not all guess correctly – The storyteller and those who guessed correctly receive 3 points.
   - Each player whose card was incorrectly chosen receives 1 additional point for each vote.

7. New round – Another person becomes the Narrator and the game continues until the cards are exhausted or the agreed number of rounds is reached.

Other game variants:

- Narrative creation – Instead of providing a single connection, the Narrator can tell a short story or context related to the card, which may or may not align with reality.
- Misleading – Players can persuade others why their card is the right one by creating engaging stories and manipulating votes.
- Multi-level passwords – It can be established that the association must contain at least two linked elements, which makes interpretation more challenging.
- Forbidden words – Players can enter a list of words that must not be used when giving associations (e.g. "dream," "light," "character"), which requires a more creative approach.
