Rebel Card Deduction Game Codenames - Top Secret Word Game GR0745 Universal
Rebel Game Secretaries – an exciting deduction game for teams!
Codenames is a fascinating social game in which two teams compete to make contact with all their agents as quickly as possible. Key roles are played by News Chiefs, who provide their team with associations in the form of one password per turn. The task of the players is to correctly identify the code names of the agents belonging to their team, while simultaneously avoiding the agents of the opposing team. The situation becomes even more complicated because there is also a murderer on the board – revealing their cover name means the team's immediate defeat.
Game Rules:
Preparation:
Team Division – players are divided into two teams (red and blue). Each team selects their own Chief of News, who will convey the associations. The remaining players on the team fulfill the role of agents.
Card Layout – a 5x5 grid of cards with codenames is laid out on the table, representing different agents, innocent bystanders, and the assassin.
Game Key Selection – The intelligence chiefs draw a key card that determines which codenames belong to the respective team. The key is only visible to the News Chiefs.
Determining the starting team – one of the teams gains the right of the first move, which means they have one more agent to find.
Game Progress:
Giving the Password: in each turn, the Chief of Intelligence gives one word as an association and a number that indicates how many codenames on the table should match it (e.g. "Ocean 2" suggests that two words on the table may be related to the ocean.
Selection of Cryptonyms: the team consults together and selects the cryptonym(s) that they believe correspond to the given password. After selecting the cryptonym, they touch it with a finger, marking their choice - "touched, sealed!""
Identity Revelation - The intelligence service chief reveals who the cryptonym belonged to:
- Team Agent – the team continues guessing. - Opponent's Agent – the turn ends and the opponent's team scores a point. - Innocent Bystander – the round ends, but no one scores points. - Assassin – the team immediately loses the game.
End of turn: team can try to guess as many code names as the given number +1 (e.g. "Ocean 2" allows you to try to guess a maximum of three cryptonyms). If the team does not want to take risks, they can end their turn earlier.
Team change: after the turn ends, the second team begins their turn and presents their association.
End of the game:
- The game continues until one of the teams correctly identifies all the code names of their agents. - If one of the teams identifies the killer, they immediately lose.
Why is it worth playing Secret Agents?
- Uniqueness of the game – with 400 different passwords and 40 key cards, each game is different, ensuring long and exciting entertainment. - Two Different Roles – Chief of News requires creative thinking and the ability to build associations, while agents must demonstrate deduction and cooperation. - Developing creativity – the game forces connecting seemingly unrelated words into logical associations, which is a great exercise for the mind. - Great for parties and gatherings – more people can participate in the game than in standard board games, making it an ideal choice for social gatherings. - Simple rules, but a deep game – the rules can be explained in a few minutes, yet each game requires strategic thinking and careful observation of opponents.
